As you may or may not know.....the Trek Y's are my all time favorite bicycles. Last fall I acquired 2. One being the absolute most awesome road bike I have ever owned, they Y foil 77. I built it up completely with Dura Ace components. The other I got was Y 22 MTB. Full suspension, downhill forks....it just needed building back up from there.
I have spent the past 11 months almost, being patient, getting the parts I wanted for it, at great prices. I selected Shimano Deore mix, of deore, LX, & XT. I also spent time finding some of the original parts that came on the bike at its birth. Like the saddle & grips. I put some cool "bear trap" pedals on it, but got some clip in Shimano too. Flat bar handle bar. Up graded to 9 speed drive train.
I will get to the point. I wanted the original Hydraulic disc brakes that came on the bike. Guess what? they're almost impossible to find, working, at a reasonable price. Just when I was about to give in and put cantilever rim brakes on it, I lucked up, I FOUND A SET!!! Hayes Generation 1, or purple. Nicknamed that for the purple logos. Well worth the money I paid. I got them. I put them on. I wanted more color on the bike, so I upgraded all the fittings and hoses with lime green. I enjoy the color. Now with newish brakes, hoses, and fluid its almost ready. Just waiting on the wheelset I ordered, and I can cut the chain to liking, dial it in and go!!!
I am very excited to ride this bike. I have decided to go with a MAG wheelset, instead of the bontrager/deore hub wheels. I think this wheelset will definitely set it off. Im looking forward to riding & thrashing the hillside with this bike.
Believe it or not.....I put this kind of passion into the service I provide my customers. I treat them all like my own.
Look out NE Guilford Park......I'll be coming by soon.
